Gilles Badot

Director of Operations in Adriatic Sea and Iberia Departments, European Investment Bank (EIB)

Gilles BADOT is Head of the Adriatic Sea Department since 1st October 2021 and Head of the Iberia Department since 16th March 2022.

Before, he has led for a bit more than 2 years the Infrastructure and Climate Finance Division within the Equity, New Products and Special Transactions Department, which deals with the financing of Climate Action high risk high impact projects, especially in the sectors of energy, transportation and circular economy.

He was appointed Head of Western Europe Banks Division beginning of 2017 after having been in charge of the Italy – Regulated Utilities team at the European Investment Bank Rome office. He worked 5 years at the Rome Office where he was responsible for the Project Finance/PPP sector.

Prior to joining the Rome office, Gilles was one of the senior members of EIB’s project finance team responsible for structured transactions in the UK, Ireland, Benelux and France.

Gilles joined the Bank as a Loan Officer in 2001 working on corporate deals in France. In 2003, he moved to infrastructure financing before specializing in PF transactions.

Prior to EIB, Gilles has worked for two years at the French Ministry of Finance and for one year at the World Bank.

Gilles is an Engineer of the École Polytechnique and of the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées.
